Week 4

We have had another fantastic week in Year 2 and have been very busy!

In Maths this week we have been learning how to compare and order lengths using the greater than, less than and equals sign. I was so impressed with how confidently you all were using the ruler to measure different items around the classroom. In English we wrote character descriptions of the character Wild. I was so impressed with the vocabulary you all used.

Well done to AK for winning Star of the week! AK has worked hard in every lesson this week and is also an extremely kind and caring member of our class. Also, well done to RH for winning our handwriting award. I was very impressed with the presentation in his English book. We are working hard to develop our presentation skills and I am looking forward to giving out more gold stars.

Let’s see if we can win class points and attendance next week.

Have a lovely weekend,

Week 3

Hi Year 2,

This week we have had fun sketching wild animals in preparation for creating a woodland collage!

We are all now much more confident with reading and writing the numbers from 1 – 100 (even the tricky spellings!)

Our star of the week this week was JP for amazing work in all our lessons. Our handwriting award went to SR for beautiful presentation in his books.

The fantastic news is, we won class points with an incredible 85 points! Well done Year 2, I am so proud of you all.

We didn’t win attendance this week so let’s hope we can get closer to 100% next week.

Have a lovely weekend, I can wait for another fantastic week with you all.

Week 2

Year 2 have been working really hard this week to deepen their understanding of the story ‘Wild’ and have begun to think about how the girl might have come to live in the forest – we had some very imaginative ideas!

In Maths we have been developing our counting skills to count in sequences – I have been very impressed with how hard the children have worked to count in steps of 2, 3, 5 and 10.

This week we had 98.3% attendance. Can we get 100% next week?

I have been really proud of you all this week and we got 61 class points!

Well done to our fantastic star of the week DS for amazing work in our Maths lessons. Also, well done to ER for winning our handwriting award for beautiful presentation in his English book. :)

Enjoy your weekend,

Mrs Morris x

Year 2

What a fantastic first week we have had in Year 2!

We began the week by reading the story ‘Wild’ by Emily Hughes. Then, we created our own pictures of Wild. We used a range of different materials to recreate her Wild hair! Your pictures are amazing Year 2 and look great on the display.

We have also been learning about the artist Henri Rousseau. We created a mind map with facts about his life. We learnt that he was famous for creating jungle paintings. What do you like most about his art work?

This week we earned 43 class points. Let’s try and beat that score next week!

We also had 2 stars of the week! Well done HM and IL for showing a fantastic attitude to your learning.

I hope you are all looking forward to next week.

Have a lovely weekend Year 2,

Mrs Morris
